Augmented Reality is big but 5G will make it huge. With unprecedented speed & connectivity, 5G is set to bring faster speeds, hyper-capacity, new viewing options like 8K resolution streaming, 360-degree and 3D experiences. What does it mean for the consumer? Life-like image quality and user-friendly AR experiences wherever they go. But 5G doesn’t just transform mobile Augmented Reality - using AR wearables will become even more compelling now as haptic feedback will be delivered seamlessly along with the visuals, adding another dimension to the experience.

5G will be a new quantum leap in human connections. 5G will shape the economic future of the United States in the same way that commercializing the internet did 25 years ago. 5G is the infrastructure for the next phase of digital transformation.

Nextech AR is proud to be selected as one of the few companies to be part of the Ericsson Startup 5G program. Ericsson is at the forefront of the 5G, IoT, edge computing and cloud network infrastructure era. To be able to co-innovate with the first company to bring 5G to four continents, Nextech AR and Ericsson will pave the path toward a connected and digital world.

About the Ericsson Startup 5G

Ericsson Startup 5G is a global program that selects the world’s most innovative technology companies like Nextech to accelerate the successful commercialization and monetization of 5G.

The program helps members launch innovative technology and to grow their business by connecting them with partners around the world, providing exposure in major technology events, and sharing technical and strategic know-how. Nextech intends to use its proprietary AiR Show human hologram creator application as well as its AR Ad network to showcase the power of 5G.

Augmented Reality Experiences of Tomorrow

The digital human economy (DHE) is expected to become a $125-billion market by 2035. Digital human holograms enable brands to connect with fans in a whole new way. Imagine hearing world leaders speak as a human hologram streamed into your room, get personalized guidance from virtual experts on how to take your medication or send loved ones a birthday message as to transcend distance and time. This is not just a novelty, Augmented Reality drives results. Nextech AR has seen on average 4X more views for human holograms compared to video. 9X more click throughs for product information. Brands looking to become the early adopters and establish their reputation as industry leaders must act fast.

Here’s what Nextech AR CEO, Evan Gappelberg had to say about the partnership:

“Partnering up with Ericsson is truly a win-win as it's a great way for us to accelerate our rollout plans for our augmented reality technology stack and showcase the power of 5G. Being part of the program opens up new opportunities working with one of the many customers Ericsson has in the telecom and enterprise space to drive 5G innovation and also seek Ericsson’s help to scale our augmented reality hologram creator platform AiR Show. Another benefit of this partnership is that we are able to get early access to the latest network innovations such as 5G or MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) to evaluate how these emerging technologies can be utilized for a better user experience.”

As part of the program, Nextech will jointly work with Ericsson to envision groundbreaking and novel 5G applications for consumers leveraging 5G such as showcasing its latest innovations featuring AiR Show and Genie in a Bottle smart packaging experience over a 5G network.

A live demonstration is planned to be placed in an experiential area in the company’s lab in Sweden where visitors can experience how 5G could help power new immersive AR experiences for live sports, digital advertising and mobile shopping using augmented reality headsets.

Final Thoughts

Nextech’s human hologram creator platform AiR Show, along with the AR Ad network is right in the nexus of new technologies that demonstrate the power of 5G. The partnership with Ericsson Startup 5G is a crucial and strategic step to introducing frictionless and high-quality Augmented Reality experiences to consumers worldwide. By connecting Nextech AR experiences with Ericsson's global partner network of communications service providers (CSPs), providing exposure in major technology events and sharing technical and strategic know-how, this partnership will advance the way consumers engage with content.
